A community shred day is set for Saturday, June 22, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Juno Lighting Group, 1300 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by State Sen. Laura Murphy and State Rep. Marty Moylan.

"Many residents in our community are concerned about identity theft," Murphy said. "I invite constituents to bring old bank statements, tax returns, bills, medical records and other papers with personally identifiable information to my shred event in an effort to ward off identity theft."

Guests may bring up to two cardboard boxes full of items to be safely shredded, including old bank statements, tax returns, bills, receipts, credit card applications and outdated medical records. Shredding will be accepted until the trucks reach capacity. Remove all paper clips, staples and other bindings.

For information, contact Murphy's constituent services office at (847) 718-1110 or visit www.SenatorLauraMurphy.com.
