Stevenson High School newspaper staffers honored

Two members of Stevenson High School's student newspaper staff have won first-place awards in the National Federation of Press Women High School Communications Contest. Sophomore Ojasvi Saxena and junior Emily Lu were recognized for their Statesman sports story, "No Place for Hate." The article covered hate speech rules adopted by the Illinois High School Association and the North Suburban Conference, Stevenson officials announced. Additionally, sophomore Bradley Locker received an honorable mention award in the same contest for his column on athletes personalizing their uniforms to protest or support various causes, officials said.
