Coroner: 5 killed in Illinois fire died of smoke inhalation

GOODFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Woodford County coroner says smoke inhalation killed three children and two adults in a weekend central Illinois mobile home fire.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman released the causes of death Monday for 1-year-old Ariel Wall, 2-year-olds Rose Alwood and Damien Wall, 34-year-old Jason Wall and 69-year-old Kathryn Murray. Authorities say the five were pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m. Saturday after a blaze engulfed the trailer at Timberline Mobile Home Park just northeast of Goodfield village limits.

Two others were taken to a hospital and released. The coroner has said all seven victims are related.

Ruestman says the cause of the fire remains under investigation by his office, the Illinois State Fire Marshal, the Woodford County Sheriff's office and Illinois State Police.
