No charges yet in Sleepy Hollow home invasion where two teens attacked

A man is in custody in connection with Monday's attack on two teenagers in their Sleepy Hollow home, but authorities are not naming him because charges have not been filed.

Sleepy Hollow police are referring all questions about the case to the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Prosecutors still were preparing their case late Tuesday.

A "John Doe," the same age as the suspect, was booked in the Kane County jail early Tuesday on an investigative hold. Kane County Sheriff Chief Deputy Patrick Gengler would not confirm if Doe is the suspect, because no charges have been brought.

Sleepy Hollow Police Chief James Linane reported Monday that a 32-year-old man entered a house on the 900 block of Saratoga Parkway through an unlocked door. He then sexually assaulted and stabbed a 19-year-old woman, he said.

When the woman's 17-year-old brother intervened, the suspect also stabbed him, Linane said.

Both teens were hospitalized. State's attorney's spokesman Chris Nelson said Tuesday he did not have information about their conditions.

The suspect ran away and entered a nearby house, Linane said. A woman who lives there said Monday a man entered her house and held her at knife point, and wanted her to get in a car with him. When she refused, he let her go and left, she said.

Police eventually found the suspect at Randall Road and Carrington Drive and used a Taser to subdue him. Linane said the man had two butcher knives with him.
