Incumbent? If yes, when were you first elected? N/A
What are the most important issues facing your park district and how do you intend to address them?
Our park district is facing some financial challenges right now, and my intent is to get in, assess the details of our situation, explore and assess all options, and come up with efficient solutions to address those challenges.
If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.
I was prompted to run for a Board Commissioner after working with the Hanover Park Park District Task Force and on the referendum Campaign Committee and talking with residents and understanding why the referendum failed. Money is an issue, but how to get money and spend it will require new ideas and new points of view. As a dad of 3 kids (ages 8, 6, and 3) I feel the Board can use the input of someone who has kids who are active in the HPPD programs and play in the parks.
Which programs aren't paying for themselves? Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?
This is information I would need to do more research into. Before I can offer ideas on how to determine a programs fate, there would need to be a lot of research and discussion with fellow board members.
Is there any additional open space the park district needs to acquire? Please describe.
Once again, I do not have enough information to give a responsible answer to this question.
Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them?
This is a question for our community. Our parks should be a reflection of the communities affected by them. Part of the solution is better communication with Hanover Park citizens and getting their feedback on what they want. Personally, I would like easier access to registration for programs and safe, updated, parks and playgrounds.
