McDonald scores 26; Arizona women surge late to beat Utah

TUSCON, Ariz. (AP) - Aari McDonald had 26 points with 10 rebounds and six assists, and Arizona pulled away in the last five minutes to beat Utah 66-55 on Friday night.

McDonald, who entered as the nation's second-leading scorer and has scored at least 15 points per game, was 8-of-20 shooting from the field and made 8 of 11 free throws.

Sam Thomas added 14 points and blocked four shots for Arizona (16-8, 6-7 Pac-12), which rebounded from a 90-88 loss at Washington State on Saturday and has won two of its last three games. Dominique McBryde scored all nine of her points in the fourth quarter.

Dre'una Edwards had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Utah (18-6, 7-6).

The Wildcats outscored Utah 13-5 in the second quarter and led 27-22 at the break. Dru Gylten's 3-pointer pulled the Utes to within 53-50 with 5:07 to play before Arizona closed on a 13-5 run.
