Geneva students will return to class Tuesday, but no official word on make-ups

The normal school schedule resumes Tuesday in Geneva, now that a teachers strike is over.

That includes extracurricular activities, according to a news release from the Geneva school district.

Schools were closed for five days due to the strike.

Geneva Education Association President Kevin Gannon said Monday that students will have to make up one of the strike days. Geneva District 304 school board President Mark Grosso declined to confirm that until after the school board ratifies the contract, because that was part of the tentative deal the two sides reached.

The school district had previously announced high-school first-semester examinations would be pushed back to January.

District administrators could not be reached for comment on whether sports games or school events, such as concerts, that were missed due to the strike, would be rescheduled.
