Curran leads by 2,300 votes in 41st Senate race

Incumbent Republican state Sen. John Curran had a more than 2,300-vote lead late Tuesday against challenger Democrat Bridget Fitzgerald in the 41st Senate District race.

With 210 of 212 precincts in Cook, DuPage and Will counties reporting, unofficial vote totals show Curran with 47,261 votes to Fitzgerald's 44,954 votes.

Fitzgerald, 30, of Western Springs, previously served as Western Springs village clerk.

Curran, 45, of Downers Grove, previously served as a DuPage County Board member and vice chairman and Woodridge village trustee.

The 41st District includes parts of Darien, Downers Grove, Naperville, Willowbrook and Woodridge.
