Endorsement: Daily Herald supports Rickert over Snelson for Kane County treasurer

In the race for Kane County treasurer, five term incumbent David Rickert faces challenger Jason Snelson.

Rickert, a licensed certified public accountant from Elgin, has done a good job of improving technology in the office and making it easier for residents to make tax payments and find information online regarding property taxes. He also smoothly handled 7,800 requests for prepayment of property taxes in late 2017.

Snelson, of Elgin, is a director of operations for a restaurant chain. He says Rickert's longevity is not a bad thing but that he can bring fresh eyes and direction to the office. We would encourage Snelson to stay involved in public service, but for he depth of experience and well managed office, we endorse Rickert for Kane County treasurer.
