Dundee Township Historical Society to host 'Ghost and Graveyard Tales' Oct. 21

On Sunday, Oct. 21, Don Alesi will present "Ghost and Graveyard Tales" at 2 p.m. at the Dundee Township Historical Society Museum, 426 Highland Ave., West Dundee.

Alesi will relate stories of his 20-plus years working in the local cemeteries. Many of these stories are included in his recent publication titled "Letting People Down : Memories of a Cemetery Worker." Guests are invited to share their own ghost stories.

Marge Edwards, historical society president, will share stories, epitaphs and traditions. Why is black worn to funerals? Do you know the difference between a graveyard and a cemetery? Why do people put coins on a grave marker and what do they mean?

These questions and many more will be answered.

Guests may take a self-guided tour of the west cemetery

Members, area residents and visitors are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

There is no admission charge but donations graciously accepted.
