Entertainment, Relays, Fun Food Included in Woodland PTA ROAR Run Event September 28

This year's seventh annual ROAR Run will not only provide fun with a 5k and a 1-mile run/walk through Bittersweet Golf Course, but also featured will be local refreshments, entertainment and an appearance by a former Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers player.

Sponsored by the Woodland PTA, the event is open to the public and starts with old-school relay events for Woodland teachers, administrators and staff at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28 outside of Woodland Middle School (adjacent to the golf course). Employees are teaming up for friendly competitions such as a three-legged race and a potato sack race.

Former Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers player Antoineo Harris of Touchdown Sports Arena and entertainer Ernie Garner will be at the run/walk that follows. Rolling video games and food by Nothing Bundt Cakes and Kona Ice will also be available at the event.

The course begins and ends at the school, but it will take participants behind the "back 9" trails of the Bittersweet Golf Course.

There will be prizes for top finishers of the races. For more information, go to www.roarrun.com. Online registration to participate is available until 11 p.m. Sept. 27.

The schedule is as follows:

3:30 p.m. - Pre-registered packet pickup and race day registration

4:30 p.m. - ROAR Relay starts

5:00 p.m. - 1-mile run begins

5:30 p.m. - 5k walk/run begins
