Security clearance irony

"President Donald Trump abruptly revoked the security clearance of ex- CIA Director John Brennan." (Daily Herald, Aug. 16)

I was granted security clearance in 1951 before beginning my work at the Argonne National Laboratory, so I am familiar with the detailed investigation that precedes the granting of a security clearance. The irony of Trump's action is clear and should be lost on no one.

A man of Trump's flawed character and reputation could not possibly be granted a security clearance by investigators using normal procedures. We have come to a point in the history of our great nation, when such a man, a man with disdain for truth and no history of public service, can revoke the security clearance of another man, a man of sterling character, who has devoted his life in service to his country.
