Arlington Heights Park District gets grant for Lake Arlington project

The Arlington Heights Park District has received a $10,000 grant to rejuvenate the shores and natural areas of Lake Arlington with wildflowers, soft grasses and tree canopies.

The "Planting for Pollinators" project will increase water quality and habitat for wildlife, while providing enjoyment to park users, officials said.

The park district is one of 26 recipients in northern Illinois to receive a grant from ComEd's Green Region Program, which is coordinated in partnership with the conservation organization Openlands. The program supports open space projects of park districts, forest preserves and municipalities.
