Emanuel opens new food hall at Chicago's Midway Airport

CHICAGO (AP) - People flying in and out of Chicago's Midway Airport will find a new food hall with expanded retail and local dining options.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and airport officials opened the 15,000-square-foot Food Hall in Concourse A on Tuesday. It includes seating for 200 people, charging stations, Midway's first sushi bar and local options such as Billy Goat Tavern.
The new area is part of a redevelopment the city says will bring 70 new food and retail brands to Midway by 2020. When complete the renovation will expand concessions space from 40,000 to more than 70,000-square-feet and include five full-service restaurants.
Emanuel says more than 1,000 people already have been hired for concessions jobs.
