Authorities: 2-year-old child dies after Illinois house fire

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a 2-year-old child has died following a house fire in northern Illinois.
Rockford Fire Department crews responded early Monday to the home in Rockford and they searched the home for the child. The child was pulled from the building taken to a hospital in critical condition. TV stations WIFR and WREX report the child later died.
Several other people were able to get out of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
