Barrington Wine Walk returns after 2-year hiatus

After a two-year hiatus, the Barrington Wine Walk returns to the village from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 28, with 28 shops and restaurants offering wine samples to registered participants.

The village of Barrington and the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to bring back the event, which was canceled in 2016 due to changes in state liquor regulations. The event has been reinvented to meet the new requirements.

Participants will have the opportunity to "Shop, Sip, and Stroll" as they sample a variety of wines at 28 locations throughout the village.

Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance online at www.BarringtonChamber.com.

"Each Wine Walk location will feature a different red and white wine, offer wine notes and indicate where that wine can be purchased," said Suzanne Corr, president and CEO of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce.

"For wine enthusiasts, it's an afternoon of exploration, tasting wines in unique settings, and a great way to spend time with friends and neighbors."

The Wine Walk is an opportunity to get out to enjoy the spring weather, browse shops and, perhaps, stay for dinner in town.

"The event begins at NeoTeca (136 S. Hough St.), where the first tasting and official check-in will be held," Corr said. "Attendees will have IDs checked, get an official wristband and souvenir wineglass to start the walking tour."

Check-ins begin at 2 p.m. Participants will receive a map listing the 28 Wine Walk stops, which include: 18/8 Men's Salon; Angelina; Anderson's Candy Shop; Barrington Cultural Arts Center; Big Iron Horse BBQ; BlueMercury; Colored Squid; Concierge Medical Spa; Estate Jewelers; EwelineB; Fancy Art, N.F.P.; Flesk Brewing Co.; Fleur de Lis Salon; Heinen's Grocery Store; Jewel-Osco; Long & Co. Jewelers; McGonigal's Pub; NeoTeca; Norton's USA; Notice; One Girl; Redefined Beauty Bar & Salon; Savvy Spirit; Shakou; Skin Wellness by Renee; Studio 4 Hair Salon; Tootsie's Women's & Children's Shoes; and Vin Chicago.

"The Wine Walks are an important opportunity for the Barrington Area Chamber to partner with the village and invest back into the downtown merchant community," Corr said.

"The fees will be used to 'do business' with our local wine suppliers, and the event will bring traffic into the downtown to explore unique shopping and dining opportunities."
