Morris scores 20-plus for 7th straight, Kentucky women win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Maci Morris scored 25 points for her seventh straight game with 20-plus and Kentucky beat Alabama 71-64 on Thursday in the second round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

It's the ninth straight season Kentucky has won at least one game in the conference tournament.

The Wildcats ended the third quarter on a 12-2 run to grab a 50-48 lead and Morris hit a pull-up jumper to make it 67-60, then sank a wide open 3-pointer two possessions later.

Morris was 9 of 16 from the field with five 3-pointers and she also had seven rebounds and a career-high-tying six assists for No. 9 seed Kentucky (15-16). Taylor Murray added 18 points and five assists.

Kentucky will play top-seeded and second-ranked Mississippi State on Friday in the quarterfinals.

Hannah Cook scored 21 points with four 3-pointers for eighth-seeded Alabama (17-13). Ashley Williams had 15 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
