Attendance not mandatory
I can't let this go. To the reader who did not do her homework … attending the State of the Union speech is not a part of a legislators' job description. Antonio Scalia, associate Supreme Court justice and a conservative Republican, did not attend for 20 years. He said the speeches were nothing more than a pep rally for the party in office.
