ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson has completed the makeover of his defensive staff by hiring defensive line coach Jerome Riase from Wofford.

Riase (pronounced RIZE) spent the last four seasons coaching Wofford's defensive line. He joins new defensive coordinator Nate Woody, hired from Appalachian State on Jan. 6, and new safeties coach Shiel Wood, also hired from Wofford.

Wofford led the Southern Conference in rushing defense in each of Riase's four seasons. Wofford did not allow a 100-yard rusher in 2017.

Woody replaced Ted Roof, who left to become North Carolina State's co-defensive coordinator and associate head coach. Woody is the fifth defensive coordinator in Paul Johnson's decade-long tenure as head coach.
