Wrong-way driver killed in Indianapolis crash identified

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana State Police say a wrong-way driver was killed when her car crashed head-on into a semitrailer on Interstate 465 in Indianapolis.

They say 24-year-old Milca B. Alvarado Polanco of Indianapolis was westbound in the eastbound lanes when she hit the semitrailer about 5:30 a.m. Thursday near the interchange with U.S. 31 on the city's far north side.

Troopers say they don't know why Polanco was driving the wrong way.

They say 51-year-old truck driver Tony Splittstoesser of Champaign, Illinois, suffered minor injuries in the crash. A passenger in the semitrailer's sleeper berth wasn't hurt.

The crash closed the highway for more than four hours.
