Groundbreaking for new Lake Villa library held

A ceremonial groundbreaking for a new Lake Villa District Library at 38110 N. Munn Road on the east side of Crooked Lake was held Thursday. "This is the day we've been waiting for," library board President Tony Gundrum said. Last summer, Camosy Construction of Zion was selected from among nine bidders for a cost not to exceed $18.23 million to build the 60,000-square-foot facility to replace the current library at Grand Avenue and Deep Lake Road. The district bought the 29-acre site for $2.5 million in 2016. The new building is expected to open in February 2019.
