Contract talks resume in effort to end strike at District 15

Negotiations overseen by a federal mediator are scheduled to restart Friday morning in an effort to end a support employee strike at Palatine Township Elementary District 15. Education Support Personnel Association union members went on strike Oct. 16.

The walkout involves 454 secretaries, clerical workers, nurses and classroom aides in the local affiliated with the Illinois Education Association. The last bargaining session covered about 14 hours and ended without a settlement early Monday, Oct. 23. Talks on a new deal began in February. The employees have been without a contract since July 1.
