Pussy Riot members stage protest inside Trump Tower

NEW YORK (AP) - Members of the Russian punk collective Pussy Riot have staged a protest at Trump Tower in New York City to draw attention to the plight of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who is incarcerated in Russia.

Pussy Riot member Maria Alekhina posted pictures on her social media accounts showing three women in balaclavas unfurling a "Free Sentsov" banner inside Trump Tower, where President Donald Trump lived before moving to the White House.

Alekhina is touring with a play that tells the stories of three artists in prison. One of them is Sentsov, who was convicted of conspiracy to commit terror attacks by a Russian military court in 2015 and sentenced to 20 years.

Alekhina was sentenced to two years for a protest concert inside Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
