Your Medicos Offers Complimentary Treatments To Breast Cancer Patients in October
Buffalo Grove based Your Medicos is offering free massages, radio frequency skin tightening, or acupuncture to breast cancer patients this October. In addition, they are offering free breast cancer ultra sound screenings to their existing patients on scheduled days.
Dr. Thomas Heggen, MD, FACOG, Medical Director of Your Medicos understands the importance of treating the person behind the diagnosis. A gynecologist for over two decades and now a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Heggen has been personally involved in diagnosing the disease and wants to do more than just deliver the life-changing news.
"We want breast cancer patients to feel relaxed and beautiful. Women are usually so busy taking care of their families, jobs and dealing with the diagnosis, they don't take the time to pamper themselves." Dr. Heggen noted.
In 2017, an estimated 252,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer are anticipated to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,410 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer.
"In addition to the fear of diagnosis, a woman's body changes while going through treatment, this can include hair loss, weight gain from steroids, pre-mature aging and other side effects. Any woman currently undergoing breast cancer treatment is eligible for their choice of one free half-hour massage, acupuncture treatment or radio frequency skin tightening procedure. All therapies require a note from the patient's oncologist or internist noting the patient is healthy enough to receive the treatment.
In addition to the free massage and beautification treatments, the clinic is offering ultrasound pre-screens on October 11 and 25 with appointment. The screening is free but any abnormalities noted would require an additional radiologist report. Women may call 847.850.5882 to make an appointment.
