Shots fired near Indianapolis police district headquarters

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police say they've arrested four young people after they fled from officers investigating gunshots near the department's North District Headquarters.

No injuries were reported in the shooting, which happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers were in a parking lot at the headquarters when they heard numerous shots. They started looking for suspects and found the 17-year-olds and a stolen gun. A SWAT team responded as well. The teens were arrested on suspicion of resisting law enforcement.

Indianapolis police say in a statement that detectives determined that shots weren't being fired at officers, but had been fired near them. The teens were taken to the Juvenile Center for processing and the Marion County prosecutor's office will review the case.
