Precision Shopping Cart Brigade Marches for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry in GE 4th of July Parade

The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is located inside Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest Avenue in downtown Glen Ellyn. The 38 year-old non-profit organization supports families and individuals in Glen Ellyn, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Wheaton, Lombard, and Lisle, providing groceries for approximately 5,000 families each year. Over 300 volunteers help collect, sort and administer to the customers who come to the pantry on regularly scheduled weekdays. The Precision Shopping Cart Brigade will once again perform during the 4th of July Parade as they collect non perishable food donations for the pantry. The brigade performs coordinated maneuvers to entertain onlookers, accept donations and raise awareness about hunger in our own communities. The brigade is organized by Grace Lutheran Church and will be joined by several other faith communities. There are opportunities to participate for people of all ages and abilities. Volunteers are needed for:

1. Volunteer coordinator for your organization that helps the pantry

2. Distributing fliers to homes along the parade route before the parade with donation food requests

3. Decorate shopping carts before the parade

4. March with the brigade in the parade

5. Shuttle donations from the brigade carts to the support truck during the parade

6. Bring non-perishable items to the parade

7. Ask friends and neighbors to bring donations to the parade

8. Unload the trucks after the parade back at Grace Church
