Pope's representative to US to help honor Catholic Charities

CHICAGO (AP) - The representative of Pope Francis in the U.S. will give the homily at a special Mass to mark the 100th anniversary of Catholic Charities in the Chicago archdiocese.

Archbishop Christophe Pierre will join Cardinal Blase Cupich (blayz SOO'-pich), Catholic Charities CEO Monsignor Michael Boland and 25 priests from across the Archdiocese of Chicago for Sunday's service. It's scheduled for 2 p.m. at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.

Pierre will deliver a message from the Vatican at Sunday's Mass, which is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 people.

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago was founded days after the U.S. entered World War I. With 150 locations in Cook and Lake counties, it's the largest Catholic Charities in the country and serves almost 1 million people annually.
