Models open at Parkside of Libertyville

Parkside of Libertyville is showcasing two model townhouses that will wow today's sophisticated buyers with their open interiors.

Parkside, by K. Hovnanian Homes, offers four townhouse designs with elegant stone and brick exteriors, each with a "Hov hub" tech center, three bedrooms, 2½ baths and two-car garage.

Situated at 625 W. Winchester Road, just west of Milwaukee Avenue, the community sits near Libertyville's quaint downtown area with historic buildings, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops.

Model interiors are by Mary Ward, director of design at Laura O'Connor Design in Carpentersville. Here are highlights of the two model homes.

The Ontario, priced from $496,551, features 2,110 square feet. With a Restoration Hardware vibe, this home shows a neutral palette - camels, grays, creams and a little black for punch - with a lot of distressed woods and metallics for a relaxed feel.

The design features a very open plan with site-finished hardwood flooring that flows throughout the main level. A bay window and other architectural details add interest. Also, abstract and transitional artwork throughout the home grabs your attention.

The impressive kitchen features a large island, stainless steel appliances, 42-inch maple cabinetry with crown molding and quartz countertops with ceramic tile backsplash.

A sectional and two chairs provide plenty of seating for TV viewing while a grill on the balcony sizzles with food for guests.

Shown on the main level, the owner's suite features a lot of windows that allow natural light to flood the room. The spa bath has a private commode, walk-in shower with seat and European-height sinks.

One of the secondary bedrooms is a girl's room with a volleyball theme showing a canopy bed and pink and teal color scheme; the other is a boy's room decked out for the music lover with a top bunk and workspace below.

The Erie townhouse is priced at $504,765 and features 2,360 square feet, three bedrooms, 2½ baths and two-car garage.

Furnished to appeal to a younger buyer, this interior features a contemporary feel; it picks up on the West Elm vibe and mixes contemporary items with a lot of rustic pieces. The large living space features a neutral palette, black and white background with pops of apple green.

A huge island with a farmhouse sink and breakfast bar is the centerpiece of this showpiece space. Stainless steel appliances, cabinetry with a white maple finish, quartz countertops and a ceramic tile backsplash provide homeowners with everything they need to entertain with style.

Family and friends can watch TV while taking in the ambience of a modern electric fireplace with ceramic tile surround.

In a corner, a cozy nook with two leather chairs and an ottoman offers a place where you can kick off your shoes and relax before guests arrive or claim the space for your morning coffee.

Upstairs, the owner's suite features a deep tray ceiling with crown molding and a black accent wall behind the bed. The private bath shows European-height sinks and large walk-in shower with seat.

Secondary bedrooms include a boy's room with a bicycle motif and a day room that sparkles and glitters with a Hollywood theme and a mural of the famous hilltop sign.

Other designs available at the community are the Huron, priced at $508,449 with 2,445 square feet, and the Superior, priced at $539,995 with 2,550 square feet.
