Woman killed in crash on Interstate 88 in Oak Brook

A 23-year-old Chicago woman is dead after a two-car crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 88 in Oak Brook.

Illinois State Police said a preliminary investigation showed that the vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-88 just west of York Street at about 2:17 a.m., when. for unknown reasons, the driver of a silver 2003 Lincoln LS lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway to the right and struck the guardrail.

Police said the vehicle then bounced off the guardrail and struck a blue 2002 Lincoln LS in the middle of the roadway, causing a passenger from the first vehicle to be ejected onto the roadway. The driver of the silver Lincoln, a 22-year-old Chicago woman, and two passengers, both 23-year-old women, were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for treatment.

The third passenger from the first vehicle, a 23-year-old Chicago woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

I-88 eastbound was temporarily shutdown for an hour after the crash, which police said remains under investigation.
