St. Charles police: No sign of drugs in car where teens found dead

The initial investigation into what caused the deaths of two 18-year-olds found in a car Thursday in St. Charles did not show evidence of drugs or drug paraphernalia at the scene, St. Charles Deputy Police Chief David Kintz said Friday.

The Kane County coroner's office said Friday afternoon that there were no signs of trauma or obvious foul play in the deaths of Kody R. Dietrich of St. Charles and Adalina E. Donoso of Racine, Wisconsin.

They were found unresponsive in the back seat of a car at 8:08 a.m. Thursday on the 100 block of North 17th Street. They were taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where they were pronounced dead.

The cause of death is pending toxicology results, the coroner's office said.

Dietrich was a junior at St. Charles East High School.

East High students were told of the death Friday morning and offered counseling services, St. Charles Unit District 303 spokesman Jim Blaney said.
