Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?The strength of a community is it schools and the strength of the schools is its community. I am running for reelection to continue a strong history of making important decisions that will help our school district grow and improve. I believe that our board must set new short term and long term goals on improving our students educational experience (emphasizing technology growth). What do you think about the process for measuring student success in your district? Is it adequate? What changes, if any, do you propose?I feel our current program allows our teachers to measure student ability and track student growth. In district 4 we do not give letter grades, instead we measure growth in many educational areas. How big a role do you think the board of education should play in setting the curriculum for students and what ideas do you have for changes to the current curriculum? The role of a school board is to support the Superintendent, Administrators, Teachers, and Staff. We base our decisions on recommendations and research presented to us by our Administration Team. No board should be setting curriculum in a school district, they should be supporting their Administration in those decisions. What budget issues will your district have to confront and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, what programs and expenses should be reduced or eliminated? On the income side, do you support any tax or fee increases?I do not support any tax or fee increases. The financial situation in Addison School District #4 is strong. As a district we have no need to look at cuts to programs. Our only concern, like all school districts in our state, is the financial situation of our state government. What role can and should school choice play in your district? If Congress or the state approves a voucher system or other means giving students broader choices among public and private schools, how will that affect your district? What is the appropriate response for the board of education of a public school system? As a school board our concern is to provide a quality educational system to the residents in our community. We have had great success in Addison and continue to grow and improve. I do not see any need for a "school choice program" in our community. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Candidate did not respond. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.It is sad to say, no one. Someone who inspires me each day is my Mother. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Don't Whine, Don't Complain, Don't Make Excuses. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Spending more time with my children and less time working. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math (Geometry), problem solving ability. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Cherish the moments you have with family and friends, make them important. Those moments are important and we tend to take them for granted.
