Prioritize them, and briefly discuss why you believe each to be critical, and how the board should go about addressing them.1. Enhancement of outreach or services available. General assistance and emergency assistance programs. With continue state budget shortfalls it is local government such as Townships that will have to fill the void for citizens in need.2. Social Service grants expansion to aide social service organizations (non-profits) who provide many needed services but are clearly struggling to meet the demands of the public due to state funding shortfalls. The Township Board has done so over many years but has seen an increase in the number of requests as well as the dollar mount of such requests. 3. Technological improvements. Enhanced facility improvement for a greener building. Updated website and office staff computer needs to aide in efficiency of service.What should be the primary responsibility of township government?The responsibility of Township government is not relegated to any one primary role. Townships in many jurisdictions maintain rural roadways and bridges. Townships are responsible for property value assessments. Through the Supervisor's Office many programs are run from General and Emergency assistance to those underprivileged or residents who have fallen on hard times. Support programs for senior citizens and youth support initiatives are also valued roles of the Township government. The speed and efficiency of services that can be provided by the Township make it a benefit to its citizens. As we move forward I for see the Townships being needed even more for help with persons in need.In the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?Townships will continue to be needed and in much for the reasons I have earlier stated. The State's ability to provide for any funding to social services is shrinking causing great for a great need to the public. It is the Township governments by the existence and structure that can best rise to fulfill the void and best serve the citizenry.Are there any township offices that should be eliminated or consolidated?Each locations or county may have slightly different needs. Elgin Township is run efficiently and I do not see any current services needing to be eliminated at this time.Can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?Currently the Township is making moves to be a greener building which shows proof to save money through utility expenses and be better overall for the environment. Elgin Township offices are not over staffed and run efficiently providing residents quality services at a very low tax assessment. The current members of the Board have always remained focused on top quality services at the most economical assessment level.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Continued enhancements in physical security at the Township buildings, Continual efforts in Information technology upgrades, and public information of services available.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.I cannot select just one. I observe, listen and learn from many.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Stand up for yourself and for those who cannot do so for themselves. Everyone has value.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Family. Work is important and is a part of you, but do not take your family for granted.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Social Studies and History. Learning of the past the successful leaders of the past and societies help guide me in my actions and behavior today.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Be passionate. Be passionate in whatever your do and be passionate in your compassion for others for respect will follow.
