NAME: Eric Holcomb

AGE: 48

CURRENT POSITION: Indiana lieutenant governor since March 2016.

CAREER: State chief of staff for U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, 2013-15; Indiana Republican Party chairman, 2011-13; various positions with Gov. Mitch Daniels, including deputy chief of staff and 2008 campaign manager, 2003-11; aide to U.S. Rep. John Hostettler.

CAMPAIGNS: Won 2016 race for governor; announced in March 2015 bid for 2016 U.S. Senate nomination, but dropped out when appointed lieutenant governor; lost 2000 campaign for state representative seat from Vincennes area.

BACKGROUND: Grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Pike High School; bachelor's degree from Hanover College; served six years in the Navy.

FAMILY: He and his wife, Janet, live on the northwest side of Indianapolis. She is an executive at the bolt manufacturing company owned by her family, R&R Engineering Co. of Summitville.
