$93 million, 12,000 decorative nail heads and 3 new buildings: Naperville's Water Street District by the numbers

The main building at the Water Street District in downtown Naperville - a combination hotel and parking garage - went up in roughly three months, built with prefabricated concrete pieces lowered into place by a giant crane.

But the project itself has taken much longer to come together.

A $93 million behemoth that's been called a "game-changer" for its work to transform an underused block into a vibrant extension of downtown, the hospitality district opens with the Friday, Nov. 18, launch of the Hotel Indigo Naperville Riverwalk.

Jeff Prosapio, executive vice president of development for Water Street developer Marquette Companies, has spent the past two years overseeing every detail of the construction, and boy are there plenty of them.

From the historical photos sourced from Naper Settlement to adorn hotel room walls to the decorative nail heads - 12,000 of them - implanted into the hallways for a rustic effect, the story of the details of the development is best told in numbers and in dates.

Check out a timeline of important moments in the creation of the Water Street District and a list of numbers hidden inside the new hotel, shops, restaurants, Riverwalk and parking garage.
