Waukegan event to discuss heart disease in women

The public is invited to a community outreach event, Wednesday, Nov. 16, to educate and raise awareness about heart disease in women. It is set for 4 to 7:30 p.m. (the show begins at 5:30 p.m.) at Red Iguana, 454 N. Green Bay Road, Waukegan. The Lovell Federal Health Care Center Women Veterans Program received a WomenHeart National Hospital Alliance Capacity Building grant to partner with the Gurnee American Legion Post 771 to hold the event. The evening includes a networking reception, free heart health screenings, veterans resource fair, a talk by WomenHeart cardiologist Dr. Joan Briller from the University of Illinois, and a special presentation of "Women at War," followed by a moderated post-show conversation about the show's themes.
