Waukegan turkey trot

The Waukegan Park District hosts its annual Turkey Trot, Saturday, Nov. 12, at Belvidere Park, 412 S Lewis Ave., Waukegan. Register early at Jack Benny Center for the Arts, Belvidere Recreation Center or the Field House Sports & Fitness Center. On-site registration begins at 9 a.m. and foot races start at 10 a.m. To register, donate two cans of food; all food collected will be donated to a local food bank. Races will be held for age groups ranging from 7 to 12 months to 60 years old and up. Race lengths are 5 yards to 1 mile depending on age group. First-place finishers in each age group will receive a turkey and first-place ribbon. All participants will receive a participation ribbon, but only Waukegan Park District residents are eligible to win turkeys as race prizes. Everyone attending the event is eligible to enter a drawing to win a free turkey.
