Endorsement: Frasz for Kane County Board, District 18

The battle for Kane County District 18 pits Republican incumbent Drew Frasz, 60, vice chair of the board, against newcomer Nicolas Jimenez, 24, picked by the Democratic Party after the primary. In contrast to Frasz, Jimenez was against the Longmeadow Parkway bridge in the Daily Herald questionnaire, but he was much less decisive in person. Frasz, who has supported a frozen levy, said he sees the need to increase it in line with new construction. He also favors adding people to the sheriff and attorney's offices. Frasz is a knowledgeable and evenhanded presence, though we would like him to be more skeptical of big projects and added spending. Frasz is endorsed.
