Mayors of LA and Minneapolis bet books on WNBA Finals

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has accepted a friendly bet with Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges over the outcome of the WNBA Finals series between the Sparks and Lynx.

The wager celebrates the accomplishments of distinguished women authors from both cities. If the Sparks win, Hodges will send copies of books by some of Minneapolis' most celebrated women authors to Garcetti for donation to the Downtown Women's Center. If the Lynx win, Garcetti will send books by L.A. authors to Minneapolis.

"I gladly accepted Mayor Hodges' wager, because I have no doubt that our Sparks will bring the WNBA championship back to L.A.," Garcetti said. "I'm also proud to join Mayor Hodges in highlighting incredible work by some of America's most talented writers."

The Sparks and Lynx are currently tied at two games apiece in the best-of-five series, and will square off Thursday night for the title.
