South Carolina tops SEC preseason women's basketball poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Defending Southeastern Conference women's basketball champion South Carolina is picked to win a fourth straight league title by a panel of SEC and national media.

The SEC announced Tuesday that South Carolina forward A'ja Wilson was selected as the SEC's preseason player of the year.

The Gamecocks won the league regular-season title in 2014 and 2016. South Carolina shared the league's regular-season crown with Tennessee in 2015.

In the preseason poll, South Carolina was followed by Mississippi State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Alabama and Mississippi.

The preseason all-conference team included Wilson, Kentucky's Makayla Epps, Mississippi State's Victoria Vivians, South Carolina's Alaina Coates and Tennessee's Diamond DeShields.
