Kristi Yamaguchi visits Whiteley Elementary in Hoffman Estates

Famed figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi visited Frank C. Whiteley Elementary School in Hoffman Estates to read her latest children's book with students Tuesday morning.

Yamaguchi, the 1992 Olympic gold medalist and former celebrity champion on Dancing with the Stars, read from her third children's book, "Cara's Kindness." The book is about Cara the Cat, who helps Darby the Dog learn to figure skate. Yamaguchi appeared on The New York Times Best Seller list for her previous books about Poppy, an ice-skating pig.

Proceeds from the sale of Yamaguchi's children's books benefit her Always Dream Foundation and its early childhood literacy initiative.
