Local Realtors Host Fundraiser to Benefit Homeless District 211 Students

Realtors Against Homelessness (R.A.H.) is continuing their efforts to support, empower and encourage homeless students who attend District 211 schools. Their 6th annual fundraiser will be held on November 3 at Chandler's Banquets in Schaumburg.

Among the attractions at the event will be silent and live auctions, raffles, door prizes, entertainment, appetizers and beverages.

"This will be a great evening to network and meet other people who care about the success of these students," said Sue Gould, one of the founding members of R.A.H. "These young people are simply working to receive an education, while dealing with truly challenging circumstances."

R.A.H. is a committee of the Township High School District 211 Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit. Its mission is to help and support what are more than 200 homeless students on average each year, who attend one of the District 211 high schools.

Through school social workers who work directly with these students, R.A.H. provides school supplies, clothing, winter outerwear, shoes and boots and other items a typical teenager needs.

Gift cards are also distributed for groceries that might be needed over the weekends for the teens and their families. Some of the funds raised pay for transportation for the students to their home schools if they are in temporary housing outside of their school's boundaries.

Previous fundraisers hosted by R.A.H. have garnered more than $130,000 which is donated directly to the D211 Foundation.

Homelessness is a serious issue for the youth of District 211. Students live in one of the following communities: Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Palatine and Schaumburg and parts of Arlington Heights, Barrington and Rolling Meadows.

Tickets are $40 and available now. They include appetizers and one beverage and can be purchased at www.RAH211.com.

The 6th annual R.A.H. fundraiser will be held on Thursday, November 3 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chandler's Banquets, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg. Visit www.RAH211.com for more information.
