Bernie Sanders to speak in Naperville
Voters who supported Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primaries won't get to cast a ballot for him next month, but they can hear his postelection comments when he makes an appearance in Naperville.
Sanders, a two-term U.S. senator from Vermont, will speak at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in North Central College's Residence Hall/Recreation Center at 440 S. Brainard St.
The event is sponsored by North Central, Anderson's Bookshop and Macmillan Publishing Co.
Sanders tells the story of his presidential campaign and his vision for the country in his new book, "Our Revolution," which will be released Nov. 15.
"It's historic to host such an impassioned figure in our country's current political life," said Becky Anderson, an owner of Anderson's Bookshops.
In "Our Revolution," Sanders shares his experiences from the campaign trail and outlines an economic, environmental, racial and social justice agenda he says is designed to create jobs, raise wages, protect the environment and provide health care for all.
Tickets to the event cost $32 and are being sold exclusively at berniesandersandersons.brownpapertickets.com. They include one copy of his book, which ticketholders will receive at the door.
The event includes a presentation and Q&A event only; there will be no live book signing or photo line. The publisher has provided a limited number of pre-autographed copies that will be distributed on a random basis.
The question-and-answer portion of this event will rely on audience-submitted questions. To offer a question, email it to ginny@andersonsbookshop.com.
No large bags will be allowed at the event.
