Coffee with a Cop in Des Plaines Tuesday

Des Plaines police officers will share coffee with the public Tuesday morning at a McDonald's on the city's west side.

The Coffee with a Cop event is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m., at the McDonald's restaurant at 725 W. Golf Road.

"Most citizens only interact with the police when there has been a crime or they are in a time of crisis," Officer Sean P. Flanagan, commander of the police department's support services division, said in a news release. "This event provides citizens with an opportunity to get to know our officers as people and not symbols of authority."
