Girls tennis: Elgin's Krakowski, West Aurora's Stefancic advance

Elgin sophomore Marta Krakowski and West Aurora junior Elizabeth Stefancic advanced to the state girls tennis finals Saturday when they each finished second in singles play at their respective sectionals.

Krakowski was second at the Class 2A Conant sectional and Stefancic took second at the West Aurora sectional.

The Huntley doubles team of Abbey Roeser and Rebecca Fishman finished third at the Harlem sectional and advanced to state as well.

Class 1A: The Aurora Christian doubles team of Shelby Johnson and Madelynn Jurasek advanced to the state tournament by placing second at the Benet sectional, while the Kaneland doubles tandem of Lauren Karolewicz and Marley Schultz did the same at the Rochelle sectional. Kaneland singled player Elizabeth Towell also advanced by finishing fourth.
