Giving Back to a Family in Need

This year, Saint Alphonsus Liguori is so proud to be able to help a school Mom that's single, has three kids and fighting stage four breast cancer. The four-day event will be held Oct 20-23 in the Saint Alphonsus gym here in Prospect Heights.

"I'm so proud of our students and parents who have worked so hard to put this wonderful event on" said Linda Chorazy, school principal.

"Saint Alphonsus Liguori School was able to raise enough money last December/January to remain open, clear up all debts from the past and have a bright and hopeful future. This was due to the generosity of parents, parishioners and surrounding neighbors so we really understand what community can accomplish" reported Betty Cloud, marketing and development director for Saint Alphonsus.

Volley for the Cure is a four-day volleyball tournament involving the students from Saint Alphonsus Liguori (Prospect Heights), Our Lady of the Wayside (Arlington Heights), Saint Emily's (Mount Prospect), Saint Francis (Lake Zurich), Saint Hubert's (Hoffman Estates), and Saint James (Arlington Heights).

"This tournament is one that's so much fun. We have food for sale, baked goods to purchase, silent auction with items like a 40-inch TV, Blackhawk tickets, sports items, sports camp certificate and so much more. This year, the Chili's on Rand Road in Arlington Heights will be offering 15% back to our cause for the month of October," reports Tony Marchetti, co-atheltic director for the school. Coupons are available through the front school office.

"The girls love the pink hair extensions and the cute pink attire that can be purchased" said Michelle Zalewski, co-athletic director.

The receipent, Michelle Gonzalez is a very well deserving Mom that can use a helping hand.

"The Ministry of Care has also begun helping Michelle and her kids. This is what community means to our parish. There's nothing better than extended family", reported Cloud.

One hundred percent of our profits will be donated; nothing held back.

Admission to watch the tournament is $5 per family; $2 for adults; and $1 for students and seniors. All are welcome!!!!
