Unions just want money official is saving

I have been reading with much interest the stories of AFSCME's attempt to unionize the Lake County Circuit Clerk's office.

As a supporter of private sector unions, but someone who is wary of the influence and power of public sector unions, this situation concerns me greatly.

I've managed to work with both for over 30 years, including SEIU. AFSCME has been attacking the Circuit Clerk Keith Brin for things both related and unrelated to the unionization process.

It seems they're either trying to defeat him in the upcoming election or weaken his bargaining position (or both). What's clear is that AFSCME and these employees just want a piece of the pie, and they're unhappy that Brin has reduced the budget and saved tax dollars.

They think that money should go to them in the form of increased salaries and benefits. I, for one, think that money should go back to us - they're our tax dollars in the first place.
