Week 7: Scouting the Chicago Catholic

Montini (3-3) at DePaul (2-4)Game time: 4:15 p.m. Friday at Lane Tech in Chicago.

The quick hit: Montini comes off a huge win over previously unbeaten De La Salle but certainly can't take its foot off the gas. Jake Karczewski doesn't get the call that often, but the junior linebacker has proven to be a dependable option as a power back.

Lake Forest Academy (1-5) at St. Francis (0-6)Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The quick hit: The Caxys, an associate member of the Illinois High School Association, come to Kuhn Stadium. Despite the Spartans' winless record senior Greg Bogdanski is having a solid season. The 225-pound senior linebacker averages more than 10 tackles.

Aurora Christian (2-4, 0-1) at St. Ignatius (5-1, 0-0)

When: 7 p.m. Friday

Quick hit: Aurora Christian has lost 3 of its last 4 and faces playoff elmiination in this Chicago Catholic League White road tilt. The most impressive win for the Wolfpack was a 20-14 victory two weeks ago at St. Joseph (5-1). Their other 4 wins came against teams with a combined record of 6-18.

St. Laurence (5-1) at Marmion (4-2)

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fichtel Field

Quick hit: Marmion becomes playoff eligible with a win but it won't come easy against the Vikings, who don't mind road games. They already have posted wins at Benet (5-1) and at St. Rita (3-3). St. Laurence's only loss came in Week 2 against small-school powerhouse IC Catholic Prep, the top-ranked team in Class 3A.
