A legislator who understands both sides

The controversy over the Crystal Lake South bleachers left the Crystal Lake taxpayers on the hook for thousands of dollars' worth of legal fees and created animosity over an issue - supporting high school sports - where there ought to be none.

Fortunately, State Senator Pamela Althoff sponsored a bill just signed by Governor Rauner that sought further clarity on this issue. Her bill reinforced the Supreme Court's decision, cleared up any remaining ambiguity in the school code, and provided a framework for municipalities and school districts to work together on school building projects in the future.

We're lucky to have a legislator in McHenry County who can understand both sides of an issue and address it with thoughtfulness and clarity. Senator Althoff represents what's best about our community and this is why we need to send her back to Springfield in 2016.
