Questions & Answers

Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election for the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you? If so, what?

To offer a choice to the voters for a fresh perspective.

If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the job and what would your priority be?

Not an incumbent.

Describe your position regarding the allocation of resources in the clerk of the circuit court's office. Are personnel allocated as they should be? Are there capital expense or other budgetary items that the office must address, and, if so, how do you propose to address them?

Staff must be right sized to the needs of the court system. Understaffing and increased workloads lead to mistakes and errors which cannot be tolerated. Staff shall be evaluated periodically against the number of cases requiring creation and maintenance of judicial records. Initiatives shall be created or continued to ensure the office's technology is modernized to the most current standards.

Describe your position on transparency in the office and the ease of access to records by the public. If you believe improvements are needed, what are they and how would you go about achieving them?

The functions of county court clerks are prescribed by statute, evidence of compliance shall be available to the citizens. Fees and fines collected by the clerks shall be properly accounted for and statements likewise made available.

Please list any elected office you've ever run for and what the result of that election was. Have you ever been appointed to fill an unexpired term?

Downers Grove Township Trustee, Defeated.

Downers Grove Township Highway Supervisor, Defeated.

No appointments to unexpired terms.

What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?

Negligence in the creation and maintenance of judicial records is not an option. The clerk should strive to be as error free as reasonable achievable. The clerk should maintain a professional workplace environment so that staff can perform to the best of their abilities. Fees charged citizens to access the courts need to be evaluated so those with little or no means are not denied their right to justice.

Sports are for when your work is done. The problem is work is never done.

If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?

My sense of adventure often gets the best of me. I should have stayed still a couple of times

What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?

Art. The creative impulse lead to my career in architecture and the contributions I have made to the built environment.

If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?
