Crash victim was Waukegan resident
A 24-year-old woman killed early Sunday when her car veered off the road in Wadsworth and struck a tree has been identified as a Waukegan resident, authorities said Monday.
Lake County sheriff's police said Miriam Gomez was driving a 2004 Nissan Altima north on Green Bay Road at 1:56 a.m. when the crash occurred.
Authorities initially reported the victim was from North Chicago.
Police said the car went off the west side of the road near Taylor Lane and struck a tree. Gomez was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. No other injuries were reported.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County sheriff's office.
